This is actually very interesting. When I was growing up, we were told in school NOT to eat too much sugar because we could get diabetes. I have trying to cut on sugar since then until I met my bf's father. I find it fascinating that it is more complicated than what we were told. He has got a sort of hereditary diabetes.Anyone head of that? Is there some kind of gene that makes? up have diabetes. I supposed that too much sugar is bad, but ice cream, from time to time wont give me diabetes right?

Diabetes is NOT a disease, it is a symptom of ONE cause -- Toxic Buildup! And Toxic Buildup damages the pancreas...oops, did I just reveal the real cause? OH WELL! @MegaPooh123456 Type 2 can be nearly cured by diet, and Type 1 you will need insulin injections and you should be just fine. Diabetes is one of the best understood and? treated conditions you could have. I really wish you the best of luck.

My immediate concern as a mother is that the natural insulin is no longer available in America, so many diabetics have to import? their insulin from Canada and England. @MegaPooh123456 Hello. You can still have an active sex life when? you're older and there is no reason at all that you can't have children. If you have children, the chances of them getting diabetes are the same as any child being diagnosed, so they are at no greater risk at all. Hope this helps :)

Hello . iam aboy now iam 16 years old when i was 13.5 yeas i found that i have diabtes . but i realy wabt to ask something plz i need to answer ( some of my freind told me that when i be like 24 or 25 years old? i will not able to have sex or to have childern and if i do it it will tor be along like only 30 years ant i will be useless :'( and iff i get childern my kides will have the same diabetes ( AND I CAN'T SEE my kindes suffer my suffering coz that will be hard on my ) plz i need answer ty

@KienjeTheGiant He eats candy because his blood sugar is LOWER than normal and therefore he needs glucose. When you are diabetic you always run into the risk of taking too much insulin which results in low blood sugar levels. And I personally take the shots near my abs and sometimes for a quicker effect, in my forearm. And no, the vast majority of the time you barely even feel it. You take insulin whenever you eat something with enough sugar. ?

One more thing... I have been able to keep tight control of my diabetes - A1C has been 6.0 - 6.4 for the past ten years. It's pretty easy to do - a healthy diet,? exercise and an active lifestyle. I know for a fact that I am healthier than most people without diabetes.

I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when I was 9 and have had it now for 20 years. I was always able to keep good control of my disease. About 10 years ago, I lost control and was admitted to the hospital. There I found out about insulin pump therapy. I decided to go on the pump and become more educated about diabetes and its affect on my life. ? I think it's important for those with diabetes and their families to get educated - it will save lives.

I've had type 1 diabetes for 37 years. The synthetic insulin does cause problems and not rarely. It hits like a hammer and has? no duration. I am importing pork (natural) insulin from? Canada and it works better for me. I originally was on pork (natural) and? went to synthetic. I couldn't stand being on the synthetic insulin. Doctors and pharmaceutical companies love to blame the patient and not the product. Natural isn't perfect but does work better. Read "INSULIN:A VOICE FOR CHOICE"

@KorpiArto I loved your comment. Drug companies are way ahead of Sweden, because they already have a patent on a preventative drug for the " can fly " condition for cows and/or humans. The side affects can be death and/or bankruptcy which pale in comparison to the " can fly " condition. Every time I leave a comment about pork (natural) insulin it is pulled. ? What are they scared of, the truth? Let people know there are other alternatives if the synthetic insulin isn't working for them. Obviously the person(s) pulling my comments do not have diabetes or take synthetic insulin. I think I have diabetes. Just recently too. But I don't know what to do and I can't afford doctors. I am? a little over weight. I don't exercise much in the past 4 years. since being a fan of nick's and knowing he suffers from diabetes has made me more aware of the disease i started noticing the symptoms in my mum in? 2010 around that time and i kept telling her to go to the doctors to see what was causing the weight loss and extreme thirst,she finally got it checked around may 2011 and was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. so nick did not only change my life he saved my mum's. thank you x

@TomaGrubb FYI Mekelsior is a vegan activist who refuses to post any valid scientific evidence of? his theories. The science is clear on diabetes treatment and diet - and although there are some vegans who do manage to control their diabetes within ADA recommendations (which aren't very tight, in my opinion) but very few people trying vegan actually manage it, unless they weren't in bad shape to begin with. For me I had to eat LCHF and limit my carbs to only non-starchy low-gi carbs.

I've looked into McDougall's "reversal" as well as that of Dr. Neal Barnards - and they're both vegans trying to promote something that seldom works for Type 2 diabetics. We're best reducing our intake of starchy carbohydrates, period. I get all my carbs from non-starchy veggies. My numbers were so bad I cannot eat grains or starches and be healthy. I also have normal BG's now.

She'd deep fry her heart medication but I still love her and the type of food she cooks. If you over indulge in? the type of food Paula cooks you are the type of person who would not listen to warnings of moderation even if she made them. I love this food but even I know a fried twinkie is a once, maybe twice a year treat.
