sorry for the late reply, but if you're grown, you? CAN get type 2 diabetes if you don't care for yourself, for example if you eat much sugar foods and candy or if you smoke and don't train or anything, but type 2 is very VERY different from type 1.

I think I can answer your question. There are 3 most popular reasons: 1. Your pancreas might be weaker than it should be (don't really know why- it just is) and it's not able to produce enugh insulin. 2. It may be influenced? by some genes. Even if no one in your family actually has it, they might be carriers and they can make you diabetic. 3. (most probable and common issue) Your beta cells were attacked by your own immune system, which considered them as heterogenic and dangerous.

No you do not? get type 1 diabetes by eating sugary foods and/or candy. Type 1 diabetes cannot be avoided - it comes whenever it wants to. Genetic? No one in my family has it but me.... so I don't know how exactly type 1 diabetes is caused :/

For some reason, which nobody? has yet figured out, the defensive systems in your body attacks the cells in your pancrea that creates insulin, when the diabetes have "broken out" which means the defensive systems have started attacking the insulin-producing cells in your pancrea, after a very short time, the pancrea will start producing more insulin, so you wont have to take as much, but after about a year, nearly all of the cells in your pancrea creating insulin will be gone, (READ NEXT COMMENT)

Thank you very, very much for creating and posting that terrific video!! :) Your video filled in some crucial information gaps in my knowledge about how insulin pumps work that? I had not been able to find before today. You have been a very big help to me. Your airplane analogy is an excellent way to explain the details of coping with diabetes to a person who is not familiar with diabetes. I never though of it that way, in such easily relatable terms. I take roughly 30 units of Humalog a day as well, and I eat mainly yummy bad for you fast food. x) No way I could do the Type 2 diet. ;-) I check my blood and never miss shots.? My A1C is super low because I tend to get more Hypoglycemia then Hyper and even healthy levels... Im doin alright. Have only had it for a little under 2 years though. =)

FYI Mekelsior is a vegan activist who refuses to post any valid scientific evidence of his theories. The science is clear on diabetes treatment and diet - and although there are some vegans who do manage to control their diabetes within ADA recommendations (which aren't very tight, in my opinion) but very few people trying vegan actually manage it, unless they weren't in bad shape to begin with. For me I had to eat LCHF and? limit my carbs to only non-starchy low-gi carbs.

This is still true, there is no cure for Type 2 or Type 1 diabetes. I've looked into McDougall's "reversal" as well as that of Dr. Neal Barnards - and they're both vegans trying to promote something that seldom works for Type 2 diabetics. We're best reducing our intake of starchy carbohydrates, period. I get all my carbs from non-starchy veggies. My numbers were so bad I cannot eat grains or? starches and be healthy. I also have normal BG's now.

Just from a very quick look at Dr McDougalli's website I am very leery based on his statement "The human diet is based on starches. The more? rice, corn, potatoes, sweet potatoes, and beans you eat, the trimmer and healthier you will be." This goes contrary to everything I have learned. There are many types of diabetes, each in there own way is a separate very different disease.Type 1 accounts for only 15% of the whole diabetic population and its not caused by eating too much sugar. It's all about your diet so I'm not surprised you have diabetes. A lot of Americans and even kids have it. It's because you eat too much unhealthy stuff (fast food) and sugar. What did your parents pack for you for lunch? I've got news for you, they packed you sugar. Read the ingredients of what you buy. 1 major ingredient may be sugar! And how often do you drink soda (loads of sugar)? You can help yourself? by eating more raw foods (salad, some fruits).

lose weight and? you won't have to worry about it at all. Getting in better shape can revert the insulin resistance your body has built up to insulin. Be glad you don't have type 1 diabetes and your body can still produce insulin.

I have type two diabetes and I have no symptoms. I feel great. Some are immune to the disease. I have never felt better. People who have type two dont feel anything. These people are considered lucky. Indjlin plays an important part in the fight againt diabetes. The role is a factor. I've had type 1 diabetes for 37 years. The synthetic insulin does cause problems and not rarely. It hits like a? hammer and has no duration. I am importing pork (natural) insulin from? Canada and it works better for me. I originally was on pork (natural) and? went to synthetic. I couldn't stand being on the synthetic insulin. I loved your comment. Drug companies are way ahead of Sweden, because they already have a patent on a preventative drug for the " can fly " condition for cows and/or humans. Im a type 1 diabetic, and im very skeptical of doing what my doctors tell me.They want me taking 4+ injections a day, using as many test strips, lancets, needles, and insulin as humanly possible. Softglow, you are absolutley right, I was puzzled by the opening statement made. However, it is important to understand that anything we consume from a plant whether we lable it a "fat", "carb" or "protein" does contain sugar at some level via the photosynthesis process. Furthermore, proteins can actually turn into sugar. The glucose-alanine cycle explains why it is possible to have an elevated blood glucose? while eating essentially only meat and fat. But as you said, the key is healthy eating!

Diabetes one is caused of by destruction of beta cell in liver which is the fabric of insulin. Then, diabetes two is caused of by resistance? of insulin receptors in perifer. That's why, the treatment both of this type is different. Tipe 1, no insulin means needed insulin injection. Please if you can get a one touch basic. it uses photometric testing and is the most accurate. They are no longer available but you can get them on e-bay. I? was taken by ambulance because I had passed out from low blood sugar 32 but the ultra meter said 300 . I wear a medical alter bracelet to only test with serum blood no ultra meters! If you have blood disorders ALL ultra meters will read false high!This is as per makers of one touch . Write to congress to bring back photometric meter

@StoryboardOptics People with type 1 diabetes, there pancreas does not produce any insulin, whereas people with type? 2 diabetes, there pancreas produces less insulin or not enough so therefore they would not need insulin injections as much. I've been a type 1 diabetic for 12 years now, injecting 4 times daily. I am currently trying to get an insulin pump, but because the Irish health system is, lets say not so good, its taking longer than it should! Take care :)

I LOVE this message. As a parent of a child with diabetes, I feel pressure to make my daughter a "perfect" diabetic. Thank you so much for this video. I'm 23, I've been type 1 for the past 16 years and yesterday I had one of the worst d-days EVER. I had my usual hospital appointment and found out my A1c was the lowest I've ever managed to get it. I'd worked so hard for that and was so proud......until the consultant told me? I'm trying "too hard", my bp and cholesterol are too high and by the way, I'm FAT. I've cried for nearly 24 hours (seriously) and this video helped a LOT. So thank you!!!! x

I am sorry to hear about Buddy. My cat has been diabetic for 2 years.? We caught it really early and she has only been on 1.5-2 ilu. But she is 14 and has a heart murmur so taking her in for all day visits to the vets is very stressful for her now. Thank you for this video. I'm sorry that you lost Buddy. I have a 5 yr old male recently diagnosed,? and I'm heartbroken because he was healthy as an ox just wks before. I'm hoping I can reverse the disease with strict monitoring and strict diet. The vet gave us Lantus insulin, which sounds like a good insulin, though I've read about something called PZI as well. I am so sorry to learn of Buddy's death. He surely looked like a wonderful pet and it was surely appropriate that he died peacefully in your arms. Your video was very helpful to me when I started testing my cat. Frasier has been off of insulin for 3 weeks after switching him to zero carb canned food and TR with? So very sorry to hear about Buddy. I have watched this video quite a few times as one of my cats has recently been diagnosed diabetic, and i have always been amazed at what a good cat Buddy was - my? cat will not sit still for anything like this, currently. It's good to know that he died in your arms, although difficult for you, it would have been the most comforting thing for him. My sincere condolences on your loss and thank you for all the help you have given to us watching this.

BUDDY UPDATE: July 2011. Friends, I am sorry to inform you that Buddy, the cat featured in the video, died on July 13, 2011, after a six and a half year run as? a diabetic cat. He was fourteen years old. Buddy had been experiencing complications and weight loss from Pancreatic Insufficiency (Maldigestion Disorder). He died peacefully in my arms.
