Why don't they talk about using pork (natural) insulin? I've had diabetes for 38 years now and have been importing pork insulin from Canada. I absolutely hated using the DNA (not human) insulin. It hits really hard and fast with no duration. DNA should stand for (Do Not Administer). They always preach go natural until it deals with medications. Profit is? more important than safety. I'm sure DNA works for some but not most.

You might? also mention that the pancreas is really two organs. Exocrine ( digestive enzymes released into the duodenum ) and endocrine ( Islet of Langerhans cells Alpha, Beta, Delta, PP, Epsilon that secrete glucagon, insulin, amylin 2, somatostatin, etc ). The Beta Langerhan cells contain GLUT 2 that sense the level of sugar and lead to the release of insulin.

You need to revise this video about insulin receptors and diabetes. I would? draw a small artery in red, small vein in blue, and a met arteriole that connects the two. Then show a capillary bed that branches off of the met arteriole. Insulin binds with an insulin receptor which causes the cell to signal the release of glucose transporters from cytoplasmic vesicles. Glucose transporter type 4 in skeletal muscle is the most numerous. The GLUTs and not the Insulin receptor allow glucose.

I've had type 1 diabetes for 37 years. The synthetic insulin does cause problems and not rarely. It hits like a hammer and has no duration. I am importing pork (natural) insulin from? Canada and it works better for me. I originally was on pork (natural) and? went to synthetic. I couldn't stand being? on the synthetic insulin. How exactly do bagels, pizza, and noodles cause insulin resistance? I thought it was hydrogenated fats, and cheese and peanut butter, cream...and hard to digest food like meat and old nuts, and drinking while eating watering down stomach acids, that clogged up people. Yep, I defintely have metabolic syndrome, Let myself go a bit. I Stopped all junk and am exercising, scale does not want to budge. Even 5 years ago, if I would have done the same thing, pounds would have dropped quickly. Thick abdominal fat, high BP, high LDL,? low HDL, prediabetic fasting glucose levels if I start eating too many carbs, just to name a few of the symptoms I have. No ones fault but my own. Carbs are very problematic for me, eat too many and I get constant painful hunger. Cheers!

If he had any scientific training he would notice he contradicts himself? between 3:30 where BIG SOY EATERS had lower circulating IGF-1, than MILK DRINKERS (Ovo-lacto vegetarian) and 6:33, where he says SOY Raises IGF-1 more than milk. The problem really just comes down to how processed a food is.? For example, corn is good but high fructose corn syrup isn't. Same with soy and soy products. Just look into how much processing and chemicals may be used in a particular carton you pick up to make sure it's okay. :-) I prefer almond milk myself though.

I am a bit confused about high intensity workouts. You mentioned that 3 to 4 sprinting sessions a week is too much, but you go on to say you are a fan of HIIT 3 times a week on top of 3 to 4 weight liftings sessions. It seems to me that the 3 to 4 sprinting sessions are more moderate compared tha the HIIT and weights combination. I'm I missing something? I've been a type 1 since I was 4 and I've been on the pump for 2 years. Sometimes I put my infusion in the old fashioned way cause I worry about? botching it with the plunger. You know like hitting a blood vessel or getting the needle in crooked.

Great Video. My 10 year old daughter is type 1 and was on a 4 injection a day regime. She now uses a pump and her HBA1C has come right down in only 6 weeks. It has changed her life. She takes it off when in the shower and swimming but they allow for a really flexible lifestyle. If you fancy a chocolate bar just put? in 20grams (or whatever) of carbs and your good to go. Do not let all the technology "sugar" coat you. The Insulin Pump is just another insulin therapy delivery device. We have been Animas Ping users? for a number of years, the infusion sets leak, which result in high glucose reading when you least expect it. Support??? Ha! Since J&J took over Animas, the support and training has gone down hill. I would not recommend Animas Ping! When we called support they were very inconsistent to deal with and no follow until we called over 9 times!!

Are insulin pumps harder to obtain in the UK & less available? on the NHS. Does anyone know if that is actually true? No it doesn't hurt. I don't bother with the insertion devices, to my way of thinking they are more of a fiddle than they're worth. you might find them useful? someone who? started on the pump has had an infection at an infusion sight. They kept their infusion in without changing for 6 days. It's important to follow the guidelines and put in a new one every 2-3 days.

What bothers me is when people point out that most livestock is fed grains......as a way to discourage people from eating meat. HEY, I am not? going to pay 2-4 times as much for the meat I eat because it is NOT finished on grain feedlot. From what I have read, meat in general has never been a very good source of Omega 3. I eat a lot of fish and Omega 3 eggs.....but I will not pay 12.99 for a pound of yuppified, oeverpriced meat.

Just wanted to let you and your wife know, if your bodies tissues have plenty of glucose in them it will cause water retention,? much the same way that sodium causes fluid retention, water is attracted to both molecules. I personally do not think it makes much difference what labels they put on beef, it is pretty much the same, all cows are grass fed, some just go to finishing lots for a little while before they are butchered...big deal. I agree with what you're saying, but I crave more starches than I do sugary goods.? Yes, starch turns to sugar which is where the sugar is coming from. My main issue is water retention which mostly comes from excess salt, not sugar! I check my sugars all of the time and they are perfect, so that's not it. I was told I might have a blood pressure problem more than anything. BTW, that beef that your talking about is too expensive for my budget, so unless you want to pay for me.....

Sephirah777, you limit your portions of what? Are you eating healthy, grass? fed beef? Or very unhealthy, high glycemic index pasta with spaghetti sauce that's full or corn syrup? The reason I ask is because a Gtt is only part of the picture, measuring insulin alongside glucose is the best way to see what is going? on. Have you tried low carb? The reason I mention it is because high levels of insulin are not good for you. The dark patches are called Acanthosis Nigricans, a symptoms of high levels of insulin. The body can use fat for energy, it just needs time to adapt to this for of fuel, requires a lot less insulin.

As of now I'm not on any restricted diet. I just try to limit my portions and try to avoid adding salt to anything that I cook. My husband got me a dog so I think going out for walks helps with exercise. I took a fasting glucose test and a non fasting glucose test which led to the doctor discovering my insulin levels were dangerously high. As far as symptoms go,? I have those dark discolorations all over my body and stay very irritable. At times my mind is in a fog.

Well, I just came of a 5 month cycle of basically no carbs, worked pretty good but it was getting kinda old. I am now trying different ways of eating, maybe 2 days of no carbs, then a carb meal. How did you get diagnosed with IR and what were your symptoms? Did you have a Gtt done, did you have a Glucose/insulin ratio calculated for both fasting and nonfasting, did you have a 5-6 hour glucose/insulin tolerance? test? What type of diet works best for you?

The most accurate representation I have ever seen of glucose uptake. Other explanations always seem to indicate that glucose somehow is bound to insulin and insulin escorts glucose in to the cell. As shown here, there are separate? receptors for insulin and glucose.
