i went to film school and honestly, being a director is one of the most stressful things ever. he's exactly right: you get all the credit and all the blame. his? experience is obviously on a much larger scale than mine, but I know what he means.

yup!!! nuff said. after hearing his explanation as to why alien3 sucked, I have come to find a forgiveness for the less than satisfactory quality of the film. I now have more motivation to buy the blu ray anthology of the? alien series. at least i can hear his commentary of the film.

Yeh..Fincher was merely a puppet director on Alien3..the producers and Fox were to blame for overriding everything Fincher tried to achieve...scripts changing during shooting...Alien3 could have been great..but luckily for fincher the next Alien movie? was worse and what followed isnt worth talking about...Back to Fincher, everything he has done after from 7 to Benjamin button has a real Ridley Scott feel to it...Great Director

I'm from Texas, and the university in Austin (RTF) is one of the best in the country. I'm transferring after I get enough credits. U can actually borrow equipment to make short films, and there's a plethora of aspiring filmmakers to comprise a crew and cast to make the movie. If people tell you to? NOT go to film school, do NOT listen to them. Film school is vital, and you have to work hard and study to get to one.

i'm working on my first short film. If you want to direct, you have to begin that way. Fincher was actually a music video director before jumping into features. Average age for a director's film debut is around 30. I'm? 24, but I'll get there soon.

Indeed they did. To me, anyway. I liked the swedish film but i absolutely loved? this one. In fact it's the best film I've seen in years. Plus Niels Arden Oplev, who directed the swedish adaptation, says that Fincher was a huge influence on his style, so I really do find it humorous when these morons call Fincher a "hollywood hack". Also, Mara was a lot closer to the Lisbeth I read in the books.

@llamasarus1 @NathangoesRAWR exactly! and Stieg Larsson actually wanted the movie to be made into a hollywood film. obviously so his fantastic story, that meant so much to him, could reach and inspire more people around the globe. i'm normally against hollywood re making films, especially foreign ones that are faultless to a tee (even though i hated the original), but i think the re-adaptation will blow everyone's hats off.?

think of this movie as like a cover song. There are many great cover songs but there are many terrible cover songs but even if there is one that sucks it won't hurt the origional . So an American version wouldn't hurt. But there are some cases where the cover song is better than the origional. What I'm saying is that this one could be better than the swedish? one but there is no way of saying at this point.

I love watching interviews with directors, and Fincher is one of my all time favorites. However, for whatever reason, I haven't watched an interview with him until now. He always looked so intimidating, and just his name sounds intimidating to me. But after watching this, he's really anything but.? He seems like a really nice guy. Which only adds to how much I like him.

very lucky indeed.? he was definitely relaxed yet always in control on set. saw him get mad only once but he was usually nice and gave nice compliments. everyone respected him and certainly did their best for him. his attention to detail and his journey for perfection was inspiring. had some nice talks with him and was fortunate enough to start a professional relationship with an actor he works with quite often, Richmond Arquette. we co-wrote a film together called "Stanley DeBrock"

To me, a story is the most important thing that I focus on a film, or a video game or? anything. The film could look like a piece of shit, but if a story keeps my attention throughout the movie, I'd have no problems. Of course I also focus on the other stuff as well, like the directing, how good/bad the actors are, but it's that story that keeps me interested.
